Petal Stays

The Petal Stays are a unique and original design inspired by nature and derived from 18th century stays designs. The tabs are shaped into petals to give the look of a flower.
 
These Stays are lightly boned using synthetic/plastic whale bone to create almost the same rigidity as the original stays worn in the 18th Century.
 
Just like the popular Reversible Stays these Petal Stays are available in custom form. You’ll be able to choose a main fabric, bias binding, ribbon and eyelets of your choice, as well as lining.
 
Please note:
 
🌿 Unlike our popular Stays design though, these cannot be made reversible due to the tabs needing to bend correctly.

🌸 These are fashion stays and are recommended to be worn as a fashionable piece, not as historical underwear.
 
🌼 There will be more measurements required to create these unique stays. They can be found in the images on this listing. We will need measurements 1-5 and 9-10 (B, W, BA, U, BW, SS, AB)

🌷 Please be aware that these stays are made with 2 inches negative ease, this is made so that the garment can be laced up with a 2” gap or so you can cinch them in as they did historically.
Historically Stays had negative ease in order to hold the bust in place and to improve the silhouette of the time.
 
🌺 If you would prefer them to be a looser fit, (without the gap) then please note this with your measurements, so then I won’t add in the negative ease.
 
 
Can’t decide how you’d like to customise yet? You are welcome to leave the customisation space empty and email us when you are ready, if we don’t hear anything after 1 week we’ll contact you to make sure you haven't forgotton.
Please note, the production process can’t start until we at least know what your measurements are and then what customisations you’d like can come after 🤍
 
We want you to feel your best and happiest in your stays so we appreciate if you need some time to decide on your fabrics, ribbons and eyelets etc. Just make sure you've secured your stays by purchasing and you can leave the rest until you are ready.
